Cookie Policy
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Short version: Scam Snap currently sets no cookies. As a Progressive Web App (PWA), we use your browser's local storage and a service worker cache instead — they keep your progress and make the game work offline, and they stay on your device. This policy explains exactly what is stored, where, and how to clear it.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device that your browser sends to our servers with each request. They help us remember your preferences, maintain your session, and improve your experience. Similar technologies like local storage and IndexedDB serve similar purposes in web applications and mobile PWAs.
2. What Cookies We Use
None — Today, Zero Cookies
The website and game do not set any cookies. There is no login session, no advertising, and no cookie-based analytics. If accounts or sign-in are introduced in the future, any cookies they require will be documented here before they ship.
What We Use Instead (on-device storage)
- •LocalStorage: your gameplay progress, XP, streaks, settings (sound, haptics), onboarding choices, and a random anonymous device identifier used for our telemetry
- •Service worker cache: app files (JavaScript, CSS, images) so the game loads fast and works offline
Both live entirely in your browser: they are not shared across sites, and clearing your browser storage removes them.
Analytics
We do not use cookie-based analytics. The app sends a small set of anonymous gameplay events (described in our Privacy Policy) tied to a random on-device identifier — no cookies involved, no cross-site tracking, and nothing that identifies you.
What We Do NOT Use
Scam Snap explicitly does not use:
- •Advertising cookies or retargeting pixels
- •Third-party behavioral tracking
- •Social media tracking cookies
- •User profiling or fingerprinting
3. Service Workers & PWA Storage
As a Progressive Web App, Scam Snap uses service workers and local storage to enable offline gameplay and fast loading. These work alongside cookies:
Cache Storage
App assets (JavaScript, CSS, images) are cached for offline access. This cache can be cleared in your browser settings under "Storage" or "Application" → "Cache Storage".
LocalStorage
Your gameplay progress, settings, and app state are stored in LocalStorage for instant access on app launch. This persists until you clear your browser storage or uninstall the app.
4. Third-Party Services & Storage
Cloudflare (Hosting & Delivery)
Cloudflare serves the website and app. It sets no tracking or advertising cookies for Scam Snap. View Cloudflare's privacy practices at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Supabase (Backend)
Supabase stores our anonymous gameplay telemetry. It sets no cookies in your browser. View Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
5. How to Manage Cookies & Storage
Browser Settings
You can manage cookies in your browser settings:
- •Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- •Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Cookies and website data
- •Firefox: Preferences → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Clearing Storage
Most browsers allow you to clear all local storage:
- •Cache Storage: Chrome DevTools → Application → Cache Storage
- •IndexedDB: Chrome DevTools → Application → IndexedDB
- •Clear All Data: Most browsers have "Clear browsing data" options that include cookies, cache, and local storage
Important Note
Clearing local storage deletes your gameplay progress and settings, and blocking it entirely will break the game. Since Scam Snap sets no cookies, cookie-blocking settings won't affect it.
6. PDPA Compliance
Because Scam Snap sets no cookies and its telemetry is anonymous (it contains no personal data as defined by Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act), no cookie consent banner is currently required. If we ever introduce cookies or collection that involves personal data, we will present a clear consent choice before enabling it.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our services evolve or regulations change. Material changes will be announced via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of Scam Snap after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
